August is National Immunization Awareness Month! While you might hear a lot about human health this month, it is also the perfect reminder to double-check your furry family member’s vaccine records.
Vaccinations are one of the easiest, most effective ways to ensure your pet lives a long, healthy life. Yet, it is easy to let them slip our minds until we need to book a boarding stay or a grooming appointment.
Here is why staying on schedule with your pet’s vaccines is so critical—and how we make it easier than ever to manage.
Shielding Against the Unseen
When you vaccinate your pet, you are doing more than just checking a box for doggy daycare. You are building their immune system to fight off highly contagious, severe, and sometimes fatal diseases.
At Animal Care Center of Tupelo, we categorize vaccines into two groups based on your pet’s specific needs:
- Core Vaccines: These are universally recommended for all pets, regardless of their lifestyle. For dogs, this includes Rabies, Leptospirosis, and the DAPP vaccine (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza). For cats, it includes Rabies and FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia).
- Lifestyle Vaccines: We tailor these based on what your pet does every day. Does your dog love exploring the parks around Tupelo, visiting the groomer, or staying in boarding facilities? If so, the vaccine for Bordetella (kennel cough) is incredibly important to keep them safe in social and outdoor environments.
Affordable Protection
We know that keeping up with annual boosters can feel like a financial hurdle, especially if you have multiple pets. But treating diseases like Parvovirus is not only heartbreaking—it is significantly more expensive than the vaccine that prevents it.
We want to remove the financial stress from doing the right thing for your pet. That is why recommended vaccinations are fully included in our Preventative Care Plans.
Instead of paying out of pocket for an exam and a stack of vaccines all at once, our plans let you break your pet’s routine care down into low, predictable monthly payments. Depending on your pet’s age, a plan covers their annual examination with vaccines, routine lab testing, and even gives you unlimited $35 exam co-pays for the whole year.
